Les Rêves de la Perruche et de la Sirène
Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam is currently closed because of a major restoration. Thus, their entire art collection is out of sight. For this reason, the museum asks young artists and designers to be inspired by an icon from their collection and make a representation in the city of Amsterdam.
The icon by which Pinar&Viola is inspired is
La Perruche et la Sirène by Henri Matisse.
Pinar&Viola made Matisse's parakeet and mermaid travel in their dreams hence they are 'sleeping' in the depot while the museum is closed. The work is currently presented in six lightboxes in the central station of Amsterdam.
