Europolis 2100
The infiltration happened while the guests and
the contributors were sipping their champagne, two anonymous street sellers came in and placed their goods on a cloth in the middle of the exhibition space. Their presence created quite some confusion. The tension grew with the two street seller's convincing presence as un-welcomed guests in the art bubble, trying hard to convince the visitors to buy their t-shirts.
Visitors who weren't intimidated by the street sellers started to speak with them. These curious guests discovered that the street sellers' goods were manifesting utopian chaos and an unknown city, Europolis from year 2100. The street sellers were claiming that their products were transmitted from the future, from the year 2100, as a sneak preview of a futuristic mega metropolis called Europolis.
The motive for this performance was to draw
attention to the raise of extreme control and structure implemented in 'developed and wealthy' cities. The infiltration of the street sellers, spreading utopian chaos in the Utopian Grids Exhibition, is a rave for grey zones and non-structures in modern cities.
